Seven of the eight State Finals were decided by a single goal as supportive fans decked out in school colors were treated to a talented display of soccer prowess by all of the finalists.  The eventual champions had to grind to their titles as they held on for dear life against evenly matched opponents until the final horn.  Select the links below for a summary of State Semifinal and Final results along with the complete brackets for each gender and classification.

Urbana swept the boys and girls Class 3A titles while Walter Johnson repeated the same feat in Class 4A.  In Class 1A, the Sparrows Point girls were successful in their title defense and the Pikesville boys posted their first state title.  Middletown's boys successfully defended their Class 2A crown, while the River Hill girls won their 11th state crown.  Two state title holders also took home the Steve Malone tournament Sportsmanship Awards.  Congratulations to the Urbana boys team and the Walter Johnson girls team!  Don't forget about the unlimited free viewing and DVD purchases that will be available within days of the original contest on the NFHS Network

The MPSSAA appreciates the efforts of the Boys and Girls State Soccer Committees, led by Directors Bob Sheffler and Marianne Shultz respectively, in putting this tournament  together from the first round of the region tournaments to the Finals.  Our appreciation is also extended to the four schools that hosted the semifinals (Dr. Henry A. Wise Jr., Linganore, River Hill,  and Northeast-AA), especially to those athletic directors and their staff members that manned the event.  A special thank you to the staff at Loyola University for the use of Ridley Athletic Complex over the three days of the tournament finals.  We could not have a successful event without their superior cooperation and assistance.  Next year's tournament promises to be even better and we hope to see everyone there again!
