The 2016 State Track and Field champions dealt with stiff competition and stiffling heat over three days at Morgan State University. Prevailing over the competition and the elements were Boonsboro (1A), Lackey (2A), Urbana (3A), and Charles H. Flowers (4A) on the girls side. On the boys side of the ledger, Fairmont Heights (1A), Westlake (2A), Oxon Hill (3A), and Northwest (4A) took home top prize. The Westlake Boys were the only team to successfully defend last year's title while the Urbana Girls and Lackey Girls won for the first time ever. Our sincere thanks goes to the staff at Morgan State University, especially facility manager Larry Frazier, for sharing their great track and field facilities with us and to the multitude of workers and officials that made this event "happen". The guidance, direction, and expertise of the State Track and Field Committee, led by Beth Shook along with great help and a great venue truly created a recipe for success. Thanks also to all 16 of the region meet sites, meet directors, and meet staff for their exceptional time and effort to complete their meets on time in spite of the difficult weather. Great team effort!!
