Winning is never easy as was the case with the State Wrestling Championships at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro this weekend. Team champs and individual champs had to grind out methodical wins over tough opponents throughout the weekend. When the last match concluded, Class 4A/3A crowned four new two-time champions and one new three-time champion while Class 2A/1A crowned one two-time, two three-time, and the sixth ever four-time champ in Middletown's Danny Bertoni at 138 lbs. The team titles were successfully defended by last year's champs as Damascus topped Urbana, 123.5 - 99.0 for the Class 4A/3A title and South Carroll earned 166 points to Middletown's 140 points to retain their Class 2A/1A crown. Damascus has won the team title for a third consecutive year while South Carroll has posted their fourth in a row!
