Few things are as tough to earn or as sweet to win as an individual State Wrestling title.  After two days of hard-nosed competition, twenty-eight student-athletes were bestowed with the title of state champion.  Even more impressive were the six athletes that repeated as two-time champs, the three that became three-time champs, and Centennial's Jason Kraisser (152 lbs.) who joined the exclusive four-time champions club.  Don't forget that you can relive every exciting moment of these accomplishments in the Championship Finals on demand and purchase DVD's at the NFHS Network.  Select the desired links below to view a State Champions summary, the complete State Tournament brackets, or complete region tournament results.

Impressively repeating as two-time champions were C. Milton Wright's James Riveira (113 lbs.), Urbana's Kevin Makosy (195 lbs.), Ka'ron Lewis of South River (285 lbs.), Alex Blake of La Plata (145 lbs.), and Owings Mills' Alex DuFour (113 lbs.) and Phil Smith (138 lbs.).  Raising the bar even higher as three-time champions were Brent Lorin of Bel Air (113 lbs.), Earl Blake of Linganore (132 lbs.), and Paul Laurence Dunbar's Jorden Pryor (285 lbs.).  Congratulations to all ten of these multiple title winners!

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools, coaches, student-athletes, and officials that participated in this year's State Wrestling Tournaments.  We would like to acknowledge our region tournament host sites and region tournament directors for their extra effort and cooperation in completing eight tournaments in such efficient fashion.  Our sincerest gratitude to the State Wrestling Committee, especially Committee Director Brian Layman and State Tournament Coordinator Michael Duffy for a truly outstanding job of preparation and planning leading up to this culminating event.  Once again, we cannot thank The Show Place Arena and their top-notch staff enough for their hospitality, cooperation, and support in working with us to provide first class facilities for our State Wrestling Championships. And last but not least, thank you fans for your support. Hope to see you mat side again next winter!
