The 2022 State Soccer Championships took place at the Ridley Sports Complex at Loyola University on November 17 - 19. Those fans who braved the cold bore witness to six shutouts and three repeat champions.
The boys teams from Bowie, Tuscarora, North Harford, and Brunswick all hoisted the state championship trophies. Although Brunswick is a back-to-back champion, they needed overtime to pull out the win against Fallston, who tied up the game in regulation with only minutes remaining. It was heartbreaking to watch the all too familiar scene of Fallston watching Brunswick celebrate, just as they did the same the year before, after losing the 2021 championship in overtime.
On the girls side, Walt Whitman, Mount Hebron, Glenelg, and Fallston worked their way back to the championship game, but it was only Walt Whitman and Fallston who completed the repeat, as Mount Hebron and Glenelg fell to Crofton and Century respectively.
