BALTIMORE, MD, January 16, 2008—The Maryland Public Secondary School Athletic Association (MPSSAA) has entered into an agreement with the Allstate Insurance Company which makes Allstate the corporate sponsor of MPSSAA's 24 state high school sports championships and also designates Allstate as the official insurance partner of the MPSSAA.
In addition, Allstate has agreed to be the title sponsor of the Allstate Minds in Motion Scholar Athletes awards. Eight $1000 annual scholarships will be awarded in Allstate's name to four male and four female high school scholar athletes from the state of Maryland.
"We are extremely pleased that Allstate has agreed to sign on as the corporate sponsor of our championships," said Ned Sparks, executive director of the MPSSAA. "This sponsorship affirms Allstate's commitment to education based athletic programs. It gives us the means to provide incentive and rewards to a large number of Maryland High School student athletes."
The three year agreement calls for Allstate sponsorship of the MPSSAA's state championships for the fall sports: cross country, field hockey, football, golf, soccer and volleyball; winter sports: basketball, indoor track, swimming and wrestling; and spring sports: baseball, lacrosse, softball, tennis and track and field.
In addition, the agreement provides Allstate advertising on CN8 during the basketball, lacrosse and football championships.
"We are so pleased to team up with the MPSSAA for this sponsorship. I am particularly proud that we will now sponsor the Allstate Minds in Motion Athletic Scholarships," said Patty Van Lammeren, field vice president for Allstate's Capital Region. "At Allstate we firmly believe that the safety and future of our teens is one of our top priorities."
The first championship event under the agreement is the wrestling duals on February 16 at North Carroll High School.
