The MPSSAA registers officials in numerous sports but those numbers are declining and we need to reverse that trend and provide assistance in the recruitment of individuals that are interested in becoming involved in officiating. Therefore, back in August, we launched a new page in the Officials section of our website entitled "Become A Sports Official" which includes an interest form that collects the necessary information for our office to pass along to the designated officials' associations to follow-up on.
Being an official is demanding in requiring a thorough knowledge of game rules, the ability to make fair and firm decisions quickly, and the acceptance of sharp criticism. If you are interested, or know of anyone who may be interested, in officiating public high school interscholastic athletics, are at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate, the opportunity to become involved is only a couple simple steps away! Complete the form with your name and contact information then select the appropriate official association(s) in the drop down menu for the particular sport(s) you are interested in officiating. Someone from the MPSSAA Office and/or an Officials' Association will be in touch with you shortly. We thank you in advance for your interest in providing a vital service to our over 112,000 student-athletes in public high schools in our state!!
