Champions Prevail Over Close Competition

The State Championship meets have come to a successful and rousing conclusion at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex with eight champions crowned as the top teams in the state.  Five of the eight titles were decided by a difference of seven points or less making the final tally even more suspenseful than usual.  Click on the links above for the combined results for boys and girls in each classification.

Boys teams that raced to titles were Carver-B in Class 1A, Walkersville in Class 2A, Damascus in Class 3A, and Governor Thomas Johnson in Class 4A.  Girls teams that took home championship trophies were Western School of Technology & Environmental Science in Class 1A, Century in Class 2A, Western-B in Class 3A, and Charles H. Flowers in Class 4A.  Congratulations to each of these teams and their coaches for their hard work and dedication this season.

The MPSSAA is deeply appreciative of the patience shown by our schools and their communities and the cooperation that we received in order to complete ALL of the postseason meets for indoor track.  We must also recognize the tireless efforts and flexibility of the State Indoor Track Committee as their contributions were key to not only rescheduling meets but running them as well.  Last but not least, we would also like to thank our friends at the 5th Regiment Armory, Hagerstown Community College, and especially the Prince George's Sports & Learning Complex for their invaluable cooperation and flexibility with holding meets and securing make up dates at their facilities.
