The Indoor Track and Field State Championships came to a sizzling conclusion at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover as three girls teams won state titles for the first time, three boys teams successfully defended last year's titles, and several state crowns were decided by the narrowest of margins.  Select the links below to view the complete final results for each classification, a summary of the team results, and region meet results.

Class 2A and 1A kicked things off on President's Day with the boys battling closely until Century (2A) prevailed by a point over Middletown and two points over New Town to defend their title.  Likewise in 1A, the Boonsboro boys edged out Lackey by three points to successfully defend last year's crown.  When the dust settled on the girls side of the ledger, River Hill (2A) and Lackey (1A) each brought home the big trophy for the first time ever!

Class 4A and 3A took to the track on Tuesday as teams really had to scrap and claw for their points with the team races tight all day long.  The Linganore boys (3A) won a second title and their first in 23 years by one point over Reservoir, 54-53 while the Franklin girls (3A) were staunch in defending last year's title for their third overall.  The Walter Johnson girls (4A) held off Severna Park in winning their first ever state crown, 53-49 while the highlight of the meet was the Northwest boys (4A) winning a fifth consecutive state title over second place Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr., 52-43.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex management and staff for allowing us to host our state meets in their great facility.  Working hard behind the scenes at the region and state meets is our State Indoor Track & Field Committee, led by Joe Sargent.  Nothing would happen on the track without the generous donation of time, effort, and expertise by these folks to whom we are deeply indebted.  Looking forward to more record-breaking performances next season!
