Final Results From Morgan State

     The State Championship Meets came to a sizzling close on Saturday (5/26) at Morgan State University in Baltimore with two first-time champions and two two-time champs.  Select the links above to view the final meet results for every event in each classification.  (Updated 5/31/12, 2:00 PM)

     In the closest finish of the day, Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. HS nipped Suitland HS for the Class 4A trophy, their first ever, by a score of 60 points -59 points.  Perryville HS also claimed a first state title in Class 1A when they topped Brunswick, 91.5 points - 68.5 points.  Two more state titles went home with Prince George's County schools beginning with Potomac HS in Class 3A.  Potomac HS defeated Thomas Johnson HS by 18 points, 79-61 in claiming their second state title and first since 1992.  Douglass-PG HS has waited 41 years between state crowns when they landed the Class 2A Championship trophy by outscoring Queen Anne's HS 86-53.  Don't forget to view delayed video and additional coverage of Thursday and Friday's meets, as well as live video of Saturday's meet streamed on the internet by Flotrack.

     First, we extend a huge thank you to our State Track & Field Committee, led by Director Beth Shook.  This group has the primary responsibilities of organizing and conducting the region meets in addition to the huge undertaking of running the four state meets simultaneously.  In addition, our thanks go to all of the other championship workers and officials without whom the State meets would not be possible.  We appreciate everyone's committment, efffort, and professionalism.  We would also like to thank all of the Principals and Athletic Departments at the host sites for our sixteen region meets.  We appreciate your superior cooperation and assistance in hosting these meets. FInally, our thanks to Morgan State University for hosting the State meets at their primo facility. A tremendous debt of gratitude to Larry Frazier and his staff  at MSU for their incredible effort and assistance in making the meets run so smoothly.  It is a pleasure to work with individuals who do whatever it takes to get the job done right.  Everyone please enjoy your summer...safely!
