The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) on June 30, 2020 released detailed guidance and recommendations to local school systems (LSS) for final review with each LSS Return to Play team. After review and feedback on this guidance, the MPSSAA Executive Council on July 7, 2020 authorized the release of this guidance on the MPSSAA website to assist LSS Return to Play teams with the return of interscholastic athletics and activities. The MPSSAA Roadmap for the Return of Interscholastic Athletics is designed to provide guidance for LSS to resocialize students in athletics and activities in a safe and controlled environment.
The MPSSAA Roadmap for Return of Interscholastic Athletics (Covid-19 Updates) webpage launched with this guidance will serve as a resource for the MPSSAA community to track the current efforts for the return of athletics and activities and next steps for the association. This page will continue to be updated with guidance, resources, and any announcements as schools re-engage students for academic and extracurricular programs.
The MPSSAA is committed to continuously follow the lead of the Governor’s office, Maryland Health Department, and State Superintendent of Schools while working with LSS, the medical community, and counterpart state associations to develop plans that will return these highly educational programs with a goal of maximizing student participation.
