The 2019 State Tennis Tournament came to an historic close at the Wilde Lake Tennis Center on Saturday with the first ever crowning of State Champions in each of the four classifications and in all five events. Congratulations to all of the participants and supportive fans for making this such a special event. The play on the turf was as crisp as the air at Paint Branch HS as the State Lacrosse Championships came to another successful conclusion with five teams successfully defending their 2018 titles, one first time champion, and a couple of "regulars" to the championship stage. INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Amanda Merrell, a student-athlete at Huntingtown (Maryland) High School, has been selected the 2019 national recipient of the “National High School Spirit of Sport Award” by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The “National High School Spirit of Sport Award” was created by the NFHS to recognize those individuals who exemplify the ideals of the spirit of sport that represent the core mission of education-based athletics.

Few things are as tough to earn or as sweet to win as an individual State Wrestling title. After two days of hard-nosed competition, twenty-eight student-athletes were bestowed with the title of state champion. Even more impressive were the six athletes that repeated as two-time champs, the three that became three-time champs, and Centennial's Jason Kraisser (152 lbs.) who joined the exclusive four-time champions club.
