The 2016-17 NFHS rule changes for winter sports have arrived with the links to the Basketball and Wrestling rules press releases in addition to the previously released Swimming & Diving rule changes contained inside of this story. Further information regarding the rule changes for each winter sport may be accessed on the NFHS website by going under "Activities & Sports" and selecting the desired winter sport.

The latest issue of SCOUT magazine is out with all sorts of important news, reminders, and information regarding the upcoming post-season for spring sports. We want to highlight two big changes which have taken place with the State Baseball and State Tennis Championships. In addition, the entry and penalty deadlines for the region track and field meet schedule have been corrected and re-posted on our website.

Wilson Will Continue As The Official Baseball Of The MPSSAA For 2017-21!!

Wilson Sporting Goods has been selected by the MPSSAA Executive Council as the official baseball again for the next five-year contract period beginning with the 2017 season and lasting through the 2021 season. The Wilson A1010BPROSST baseball will continue to be required for region and state tournament play and highly recommended for play throughout the regular season.

Milly Wilson Presented With NFHS State Distinguished Service Award!!

Friday night at the Girls State Basketball Tournament at SECU Arena, the MPSSAA proudly honored Ms. Milly Wilson for her dedication to the student-athletes of Maryland for the past 43 years. Milly has worked every state girls basketball tournament with the exception of the first one. She is a fixture at region and state championships and best known for being at the other end of the telephone collecting region results when faxes, emails, texts, and social media were in their infancy.

2016 State Wrestling Champs Are The Toughest Of The Tough!!

The State Wrestling Tournament concluded its inaugural run in front of a highly energetic and appreciative audience where last year's team champions in each classification successfully defended their titles. South Carroll took home their third consecutive state crown in Class 2A/1A while Damascus collected their fifth state title in Class 4A/3A. In addition, six wrestlers joined the select group of those with multiple state titles. Read more for links to complete results by classification.

2106 Region Wrestling Tournament Results

The wrestling post-season got underway as eight region tournaments were held across the state on Friday, 2/26 and Saturday, 2/27. There are four regions in each classification (4A/3A and 2A/1A) of which half held one-day events while the other half had two-day events. Indoor Track & Field 2016 State Champions Take A Well-Deserved Victory Lap!!

After all of the points were tallied, eight Boys and Girls State Indoor Track and Field Championship teams got to savor a victory lap around the track at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex the past two nights.
