INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Amanda Merrell, a student-athlete at Huntingtown (Maryland) High School, has been selected the 2019 national recipient of the “National High School Spirit of Sport Award” by the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS). The “National High School Spirit of Sport Award” was created by the NFHS to recognize those individuals who exemplify the ideals of the spirit of sport that represent the core mission of education-based athletics.

Few things are as tough to earn or as sweet to win as an individual State Wrestling title. After two days of hard-nosed competition, twenty-eight student-athletes were bestowed with the title of state champion. Even more impressive were the six athletes that repeated as two-time champs, the three that became three-time champs, and Centennial's Jason Kraisser (152 lbs.) who joined the exclusive four-time champions club.
