When the final out of the season was made at the Maryland Softball Stadium in College Park, two first-timers hoisted the state champion trophy while two others successfully defended their titles.  Click on the links above to view the complete brackets and results for each classification.

     Class 2A got things started on Friday, 5/23 as Eastern Technical dethroned Easton, 3-1 for the first state softball title in school history.  Saturday play began with Class 3A as reigning state champ Northern-Calvert won 4-2 for their seventh title in a row and eleventh overall.  Play continued with Class 4A with defending champion Sherwood winning their third title in a row and overall by a score of 12-1 in a six inning game over Chesapeake-AA.  Plays concluded with Class 1A and Manchester Valley posting their first state crown as they topped Sparrows Point, 9-0.  Congratulations to Bohemia Manor for being awarded the Eugene Robertson Sportsmanship Award!  Don't forget that you can relive every pitch with unlimited free on-demand viewing and DVD purchases within days of the original contest on the MPSSAA Network.

     We cannot thank the members of the State Softball Committee, led by Lynn Pitonzo, for their tireless work throughout the season and post-season.  It is the people behind the scenes that make the tournament what it is and we could not do it without you!  Our sincere thanks to the Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks for the use of Bachman Park for the State Semifinals and to the University of Maryland College Park Athletic Department for allowing us to host the Finals at their fabulous softball stadium.  We cannot wait to see what next season brings.  Best wishes for a safe and relaxing summer to all!
