State Board Approves New Coaching Regulations

Baltimore, MD -- On Tuesday, October 26th, the Maryland State Board of Education adopted proposed regulations that provide for coaching eligibility for "Credentialed Coaches".

The regulation takes effect November 29, 2010.  This action now makes it possible for individuals successfully serving as Emergency Coaches, who after completing prescribed course work, can become eligible to retain their current coaching position.

In addition, the new regulation requires all Emergency Coaches to complete an approved coaching certification program prior to beginning their 4th year as an Emergency Coach.  Informational and interpretive information will be sent to MPSSAA member schools in the next few weeks.
