Saturday's play started with a nailbiting Class 3A championship game where River Hill edged North Harford 1-0 for their first field hockey title in school history. Saturday's second game featured Westminster outlasting Dulaney 5-4 in overtime for the top spot in Class 4A, their sixth state crown and first since 2001. Play continued with a hard fought Class 1A championship game where Pocomoke topped Patterson Mill 1-0 for their eighth consecutive crown. Last, but not least, Glenelg wrapped up their first championship in school history by defeating Century in the Class 2A Final by a score of 2-1.
Our thanks go out to the State Field Hockey Committee for the extra time and effort that goes into organizing and running the region tournaments and State Semifinals. Thanks too to all of our State Tournament workers for their contributions in making our Saturday Finals such a successful endeavor. Finally, our sincere appreciation to Washington College and their athletic department staff for the first rate cooperation and assistance provided to us. Thank you for allowing us to hold our State Finals on your campus and for always making us feel welcomed there.
