A full day of hard-nosed wrestling concluded on Saturday at North Point HS with two new state Dual Meet champions and two successful Dual Meet title defenses at the 25th annual tournament. Damascus maintained their streak of titles with their ninth overall and seventh consecutive in winning the Class 2A crown while county-mate Springbrook brought home their first state title in Class 4A. Southern-Garrett also successfully defended their 2018 crown in Class 1A for their third overall as Stephen Decatur prevailed over Linganore to win their second state title in Class 3A. Many thanks to the staff at North Point HS who continue to do a fabulous job of hosting this state tournament in first class fashion. Thanks also go to the State Wrestling Committee members, especially Dual Meet Director Dave Dodson, who not only assisted in this event but were behind the scenes calculating the season points in preparation for the region tourneys. We are excited about the growth of the dual meet tournament and cannot wait to see what next year brings. See you mat-side in 2020!
