Class 4A/3A hit the starting blocks first and when the waves subsided, the Walter Johnson boys' successfully defended their State title against Montgomery Blair, 274-204, for their second championship in a row.  On the girls' side, Thomas Wootton claimed first prize after last year's runner-up finish by easily outdistancing Sherwood, 329-255.5, for their first State Championship on water.

Class 3A/2A/1A took to the pool next as Poolesville swept the boys' and girls' competitions.  The Damascus boys' were runners-up as Poolesville successfully defended last year's inaugural title, 327-160.    The Poolesville girls' improved on last year's second place finish to claim the top spot over C. Milton Wright, 313.5 - 255.  You can still catch all of the action on demand at  the MPSSAA Network within a day or so of the event and purchase DVD's. Check it out!

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's State Meets and we appreciate your cooperation and support throughout. Our sincerest gratitude to the State Swimming & Diving Committee, especially Director Earl Hawkins, and all of the region meet directors for another outstanding job of preparation and planning leading up to this culminating event. Once again, we cannot thank Campus Recreation Services at the University of Maryland enough for their hospitality, cooperation, and support in working with us to provide the first class facilities at Eppley Recreation Center for our Swimming & Diving championships.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support. Hope to see you again next season!
