A great weekend of baseball came to a close last night at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen as three new champions were crowned and one champ successfully defended last year's title. Gaithersburg (4A) and Chopticon (3A) hoisted the championship trophy for the first time while Brunswick (1A) posted their fifth title and Southern-AA (2A) all repeated as state champ. In addition, the Paul Fahrner Sportsmanship Award went to North Harford HS. Congratulations! Our sincere gratitude goes to each of our 16 region tournament directors and the State Baseball Committee led by Jason Woodward. Thanks also to the four State Semifinal sites who did such a fabulous job prepping the fields after all the rain. We are also indebted to Ripken Stadium and their staff for the professional assistance and cooperation in hosting our State Finals at such a perfect venue!
