The play on the pitch was as crisp as the air at Loyola University's Ridley Athletic Complex as the State Soccer Championships came to another successful conclusion with three first time champions along with a few "regulars" to the championship stage.  Don't forget to relive every exciting moment of these matches with unlimited free on-demand viewing and DVD purchases, usually within 72 hours of the original event on the NFHS Network.  Click on the links below to view the complete brackets for each gender, classification, and region and a summary of the State Finals results.

The Girls Class 1A title was successfully defended for a sixth consecutive time by the team from Sparrows Point while the Patterson Mill Boys took home the 1A Championship trophy for the first time ever.  River Hill's Girls won their 13th and 3rd consecutive crown in Class 2A and the Oakdale Boys not only won their 3rd state title in the only shootout of the finals but garnered the tournament Sportsmanship Award for boys.  Well done, gentlemen!  In Class 3A, the C. Milton Wright Boys defended last year's title as they earned their 2nd overall state championship while the Northern-Calvert Girls hoisted the champion trophy for the first time.  The Perry Hall Girls were also a first time champion in Class 4A while on the Boys side, Walt Whitman won their 10th state title.  In addition, the Girls tournament Sportsmanship Award was won by Smithsburg, so additional kudos to them!

The MPSSAA extends congratulations to all of the schools that participated in this year's tournament and we appreciate your cooperation and support throughout as we battled the weather elements the entire season.  We would like to acknowledge our State Semifinal host sites, Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr., Linganore, River Hill, and Northeast-AA High Schools and their athletic department staffs, for another high quality job.  Our sincerest gratitude to the State Soccer Committees, especially Directors Bob Sheffler and Marianne Shultz, and all of the region tournament directors for another outstanding job of planning leading up to this culminating event. Once again, we cannot thank Loyola University enough for their hospitality, cooperation, and support in working with us to provide first class facilities for our soccer championships.  And last but not least, thank you fans for your support. Hope to see you on the pitch again next fall!
