PAUL FAHRNER Sportsmanship Award: PARKSIDE RAMS
- The Class 1A game between Clear Spring and Colonel Richardson needed extra innings to decide the winner, with Dawson Kehr of Clear Spring knocking one out of the park to ensure his school claimed back-to-back championships.
- Although Parkside was not new to the final, they had never walked away with a win in their previous two outings. Appearing in their first state final since 2014, the team made sure to leave the stadium with the gold medals and the champion’s trophy this time.
- River Hill last appeared in a championship game in 2009 when they won their first title. With no appearances since then, they finally made it back. After scoring a lone run in the 5th inning, the Hawks held on to that same score to capture their second championship.
- Sherwood was able to defend their title to make it three in a row and prevent Urbana from winning a championship after earning their first trip to a state final.
