The freezing temps did not keep Damascus HS from blazing through the competition and winning a 4th consecutive State Class4A/3A Dual Wrestling crown as they bested Oakdale 41-22. In Class 2A/1A, Middletown HS improved upon last year's runner-up finish by taking their first state title prevailing over Dunbar, 36-25. Dunbar made history as the first Baltimore City team to advance into the State Dual Meet Tournament. Oakland Mills, who had the closest match of the day when they lost in the semifinal round to eventual 2A/1A champ Middletown 38-36, took home the first ever State Duals Sportsmanship Award! The MPSSAA is most appreciative of the extra time and effort put into making the State Dual Meet Tournament happen, starting with Meet Director Dave Dodson, who was assisted by Bill Hyson. Thanks too to the Principal and staff of North Point HS for hosting this event and to the many helping hands from Charles County teachers and coaches for pitching in to set up, organize, and break everything down. Hats off for a job well done!!
