Next, Gaithersburg defended their championship title for their second overall with a 17-point defeat of Dr. Henry A Wise, Jr, 60-43.  Dunbar continued the trend of back-to-back champions when they edged Western School of Technology & Environmental Science for their sixth overall state title, 50-42.  In the final game of the day, Aberdeen overcame River Hill for the Class 3A crown, their inaugural state basketball title, by a score of 62-48.  In addition, Aberdeen HS was the recipient of the Mildred H.      The MPSSAA congratulates all of the schools and their communities that participated in this year's tournament.  We appreciate the cooperation and support received throughout. Our sincerest gratitude to our State Basketball Committee and Region Tournament Directors for all of their hard work throughout the season and leading up to the States.  A special thanks to Tournament Director Diane George for another outstanding job of planning this big event and to the "team" of workers at the tournament site that helped to execute that plan. Once again, we cannot thank the University of Maryland Baltimore County enough for their hospitality, cooperation, and support in working with us to provide first class facilities such as RAC Arena for our championships. We can't wait to see what next year brings!
