MPSSAA Executive Council Approves State Tournament Changes to Ensure Playoff Opportunities

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) on Thursday, January 27, 2022 approved a set of proposals to alleviate issues associated with COVID-19 cancellations and pauses of regular season contests to ensure equitable opportunity for all schools to compete in the 2022 MPSSAA Winter State Championships. State Board of Education Approves MPSSAA Waiver Requests for 2021-2022 Academic Year

The Maryland State Board of Education at their August 24, 2021 meeting supported the request for waiver of interscholastic athletic regulations found in COMAR 13A.06.03. These regulations, at the request of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) and local Superintendent of Schools, will give the local school systems (LSS) the flexibility to navigate county COVID-19 restrictions and administer interscholastic athletic opportunities based on local conditions.
