State Volleyball Champs Battle Through Tough Competition In Earning 2016 Crowns!!

Fan support was tremendous on the final day of the volleyball season and the players on the court did not disappoint. Matches seesawed back and forth as teams tried to gain momentum and keep it. After the final whistle, Smithsburg HS (Class 1A) and Northwest HS (Class 4A) successfully defended last year's titles. Williamsport (Class 2A) returned to the winners' circle for the 14th time while Atholton claimed the crown in Class 3A, their first state volleyball title in 37 years!

Classification Recommendations Put Forth For 2017-2019 Academic Years!

The MPSSAA Classification Committee met on Tuesday, 11/1 and voted to put forth recommended region and section alignments for the 2017-19 academic years. The recommendations will be presented to the MPSSAA Board of Control at their 12/7 meeting for final approval. It was a perfect fall day for field hockey at Washington College to be enjoyed by players and fans alike. Chesapeake-AA won their first ever state title in the Class 3A match-up while Hereford prevailed in Class 2A for a three-peat and their 9th overall crown. In Class 1A, Liberty posted a shutout for their 3rd title and first in 34 years while South River also rolled to a shutout for their 5th crown. The weather was perfect and the times clocked by the runners at the State Championship Cross Country meets reflected that as records fell left and right all day and six teams successfully defended their 2015 crowns. A new State record and five new classification records were set along with eight all-time top ten times...WOW! Warrior Lacrosse Named As Official Lacrosse Equipment Provider Of MPSSAA!!

The MPSSAA Executive Council voted to accept the contract proposal from Warrior Lacrosse at yesterday's meeting as the official lacrosse equipment provider of the MPSSAA beginning with the Spring, 2017 season and running through the end of the Spring, 2021 season. Warrior takes over the lacrosse sponsorship from Harrow who had been an MPSSAA sponsor for the past seven years.
