MPSSAA Announces Rick Morris as State Softball Rules Interpreter

The MPSSAA is pleased to announce the appointment of Rick Morris to the position of State Softball Rules Interpreter effective immediately.

Mr. Morris has been a softball umpire for over 20 years.  Along with his umpiring duties, he serves as the rules interpreter for the Northeastern Maryland Officials Association and as a trainer for USSSA Softball.  He has held both positions since 2015.  Mr. Morris's 30 years of teaching in a high school classroom has also honed his ability to organize training meetings and materials, and disseminate the needed information to the state's umpires.

John Dye, USSSA State Fast Pitch Umpire in Chief, sums up key points in his assessment about the self-proclaimed "Rules Nerd" when he stated, "Rick is widely regarded as a top official, known for his excellent knowledge of the rules and his unwavering commitment to fairness and accuracy.  His deep understanding of the game is complemented by his role as a lead trainer for the past ten years, where he has been instrumental in educating and mentoring upcoming umpires."

Please join the MPSSAA in welcoming Rick Morris to the team!
