Another State Golf Tournament has come to scintillating finish as the team from Marriotts Ridge posted their 6th overall and consecutive state title in Class 2A/1A while the Class 4A/3A Walt Whitman team secured their 7th state title but first in the past ten years. State Soccer Finals Schedule Adjustment Required!!

In a recent meeting with Loyola University officials, the MPSSAA was alerted to previously scheduled events on Thurs., 11/16 that would render Ridley Athletic Complex short-staffed. Therefore, in order to provide a professional atmosphere and to ensure the very best for our student-athletes and their schools, the MPSSAA will now host two games at Loyola on Weds., 11/15 and then return to the University for the remaining contests on Fri., 11/17 and Sat., 11/18 as originally scheduled.

The MPSSAA is saddened by the sudden passing of Sam Singleton on 8/31 and Walt Hardy on 9/2. Our most heartfelt sympathies go out to the family, friends, students, and co-workers whose lives were touched by these two gentlemen. Both Sam and Walt brought a positive energy with them in whatever they did and they will be sorely missed.

Nationwide Participation In High School Sports Nears The 8 Million Mark!!

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has just announced that the number of participants in high school sports increased for the 28th consecutive year in 2016‐17 – drawing close to the 8 million mark – according to the annual High School Athletics Participation Survey (see link inside of story). Maryland's participation numbers also experienced an increase last year to 112,414 student-athletes.

The fourteen recipients of the 2017 Minds In Motion Scholar-Athlete Scholarships, along with their parents, school representatives, and district level athletic administrators took part in a luncheon held in their honor today (6/1) in the Ravens Locker Room at M&T Bank Stadium. These scholarships are made possible by the Allstate Foundation who also had several representatives in attendance. Thank you Allstate Foundation!

The 2017 State Baseball champions had to not only prevail over their competition but the rain as well. We appreciate everyone's patience, understanding, and cooperation as rain delayed the start of the final two games on Saturday several hours. Kudos to the grounds crew at Ripken for a fantastic job of prepping the field!
