The MPSSAA is pleased to announce the 18 winners of the 2020 Minds in Motion Scholar-Athlete Scholarships! The selection committee met online on Friday, 5/1 to choose a male and a female recipient from each of the MPSSAA's nine districts who will receive a $1,000 scholarship thanks to the generosity of the The Allstate Foundation. All of the 2020-21 NFHS rule changes for winter sports are now published with the link to the just released Bsketball rule changes press release below to go along with the previously released Wrestling and Swimming and Diving rule changes. Further information regarding the rule changes for each winter sport may be accessed on the NFHS website by going under "Activities & Sports" and selecting the desired winter sport.

Regrettably, MPSSAA Boys and Girls State Basketball Championships scheduled for Thursday, March 12, 2020 through Saturday, March 14, 2020, have now cancelled due to the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Anyone who purchased an online ticket to the Boys and Girls Basketball State Championships should have already received a full refund. Updated Statement Regarding MPSSAA Interscholastic Athletics

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA), after careful review and in consultation with the Maryland State Board of Education and the Dr. Karen Salmon, State Superintendent of Schools, is officially announcing the cancellation of all MPSSAA events for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. This includes the remainder of the 2020 Boys and Girls Basketball State Championships and all spring sports, as well as spring State Championships.

In accordance with the actions of the State Superintendent of Schools and the Maryland State Board of Education this week, all interscholastic athletic team gatherings, activities, practices, and contests are suspended until further notice.

Boys & Girls State Basketball Tournaments Contingency Plan Announced!!

The MPSSAA has just released the following contingency plan for the Boys and Girls State Basketball Championships which are scheduled to be played on Thursday, March 12th through Saturday, March 14th with the following modifications. Unfortunately, recent developments have forced all entities to determine the events will be held in a closed gym format, but will remain at Towson University and the University of Maryland-College Park. The State Wrestling Tournament is all wrapped up after three days of top-notch wrestling at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro. The first fourteen girls state champions were crowned in the inaugural girls tournament while two three-time state champs and four two-time state champs highlighted the 4A/3A and 2A/1A tournaments.
