2017 Region Swimming & Diving Meet Results

All of the diving and swimming region meets are now complete as qualifying swimmers and divers head into this weekend's State Championships at the sparkling Eppley Recreation Center on the campus of the University of Maryland - College Park. Diving competitions are on Friday, 2/24 at 5 PM and the Swimming competitions will take place on Saturday, 2/25 with Class 4A/3A competing at 9:30 AM and Class 3A/2A/1A competing at 4 PM. The 2017 Region meets for Indoor Track and Field have concluded as scheduled and now the qualifying teams and individuals from these meets will move on to compete in the State Championship meets on Monday, February 20th and Tuesday, February 21st at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Complex in Landover. 2017 State Dual Wrestling Champions Successfully Defend Last Year's Titles!!

The 2017 State Dual Meet Wrestling Tournament has come to another exciting conclusion as both of last year's champions were successful in the defense of their crowns. In Class 2A/1A, Middletown won their 2nd overall and consecutive title while in Class 4A/3A, Damascus continued their impressive run of 5 consecutive state titles and 7th overall. Four number one seeds, four state champions, and four perfect undefeated seasons! Three teams also successfully defended their 2015 titles as Damascus (3A) won their ninth title, Dr. Henry A. Wise, Jr. (4A) won their third title, and Fort Hill (1A) won their sixth title. In Class 2A, Walkersville won their second title overall and first since in 29 years. Seven of the eight State Finals were decided by a single goal as supportive fans decked out in school colors were treated to a talented display of soccer prowess by all of the finalists. The eventual champions had to grind to their titles as they held on for dear life against evenly matched opponents until the final horn. State Volleyball Champs Battle Through Tough Competition In Earning 2016 Crowns!!

Fan support was tremendous on the final day of the volleyball season and the players on the court did not disappoint. Matches seesawed back and forth as teams tried to gain momentum and keep it. After the final whistle, Smithsburg HS (Class 1A) and Northwest HS (Class 4A) successfully defended last year's titles. Williamsport (Class 2A) returned to the winners' circle for the 14th time while Atholton claimed the crown in Class 3A, their first state volleyball title in 37 years!
