The State Wrestling Tournament is all wrapped up after three days of top-notch wrestling at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro.  The first fourteen girls state champions were crowned in the inaugural girls tournament while two three-time state champs and four two-time state champs highlighted the 4A/3A and 2A/1A tournaments.  Select the desired links below to view a summary of all of the state champions in all three divisions as well as the complete State Tournament brackets with the final results.

Joining the ranks of the three-time state champions are C. Milton Wright's James Riveira in the 4A/3A 126-pound weight class and Phil Smith of Owings Mills in the 2A/1A 152-pound weight class.  Riveira and Smith become the 47th and 48th wrestlers respectively to achieve this feat.  Wrestlers joining the two-time state champion honor roll are Timothy Furgeson of Damascus (4A/3A 195 lbs.), Easton's Maximus Bentley (2A/1A 138 lbs.), Stephen Decatur's  Noah Reho (2A/1A 145 lbs.), and Drew Sotka of Glenelg (2A/1A 182 lbs.).  Congratulations gentlemen!

We are indebted, once again, for the cooperation and assistance provided to us by The Show Place Arena in hosting our three day state tournament. Thanks, too, to all of our Region Tournament Directors and host school sites for organizing and running successful region meets.  We are also most appreciative of all of the tournament workers, officials, and State Wrestling Tournament Committee members for providing the energy and manpower required by a state championship venture of this size.  A special thank you to State Wrestling Committee Director Brian Layman and State Tournament Director Michael Duffy for the high level of organization that leads to such a smooth-running operation.  It is thanks to the efforts of all of these unselfish professionals that our participating student-athletes have such a positive and memorable experience.  Mark your calendars for this time next year to see who successfully defends their state titles!
