Churchill Obliterates Record For Team Score At 2015 State Golf Championships!!

At the end of tournament play on Monday, 11/2 when the final strokes were all added up and one playoff completed, Winston Churchill HS set a new state record for team score with a 572, 24 strokes better than the old record which they also held! MPSSAA Announces Liz Brush As The New State Rules Interpreter For Girls Lacrosse!!

The MPSSAA is extremely pleased to announce the selection of Liz Brush as the new State Rules Interpreter for Girls Lacrosse. Liz is a dedicated Women's Lacrosse official with over 15 years of service at all levels of the sport which includes international as well as national officiating experience.

The MPSSAA has released the position announcement for a new Assistant Director in our office. This vacancy came about as a result of the retirement of former Executive Director Ned Sparks and the subsequent hiring of former Assistant Director Andy Warner to take Ned's place. 2016 Spring Sports Rule Changes Are All Here!!

US Lacrosse has released the 2016 rule changes for Girls Lacrosse to go along with the previously released NFHS Baseball, Boys Lacrosse, Softball, and Track and Field rule changes. More information on these rule changes can be found at NFHS.org by selecting "Activities & Sports" and clicking on the desired sport. Please note that the NFHS plans to publish their first Girls Lacrosse rule book for the 2017 season.

High School Sports Participation Increases Again In Latest NFHS Survey!!

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) has just announced that the number of participants in high school sports increased for the 26th consecutive year in 2014‐15 – topping the 7.8 million mark for the first time – according to the annual High School Athletics Participation Survey. Maryland's numbers also increased to over 118,000 participants placing 23rd in the nation. Read more for links to the complete survey and press release from NFHS.

New MPSSAA Executive Director Named!!

The Maryland State Board of Education has appointed Mr. Robert Andrew (Andy) Warner as the new Executive Director of the Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA). Andy becomes the sixth person to lead the MPSSAA since its inception in 1946, succeeding the 34-year tenure of the retiring Ned Sparks.
